Por turnos
El tipo de juegos en los que todas las acciones, o las acciones durante las batallas, ocurren turno por turno, se llaman por turnos. En las estrategias por turnos, generalmente todo el proceso de juego se divide en turnos, mientras que en los juegos de rol, solo la parte de combate. Un turno puede no estar limitado en el tiempo o estar establecido en un marco temporal rígido. En ambos casos, los jugadores tienen tiempo para comparar tranquilamente todas las opciones posibles y hacer el mejor movimiento. El resultado en los juegos por turnos depende incluso más de las acciones correctas que de los parámetros del ejército o del personaje.
