Vertical Force is a vertically scrolling shooter in which the starship Ragnarok must destroy a malfunctioning supercomputer on the human colony planet Odin before it wipes out Earth. The player shoots down enemy craft, dodges projectiles and obstacles, and can shift the ship into the background to avoid threats on different planes.
Power capsules strengthen the Ragnarok’s weapons and shield, with upgrades including a wide shot and a piercing laser. AI Drones found throughout the stages assist in combat and have different weapon types. Moving between planes also changes how enemies behave.
