Terranigma is an action role-playing game about a boy named Ark who helps bring the Earth back to life and guide it from the emergence of life to the present day. The player explores the world, fights enemies in real time, and solves puzzles.
Ark fights with a spear and can use different techniques depending on whether he is running, jumping, attacking, or combining these actions. Victories grant experience that raises his level and attributes, while enemies sometimes leave gems used to buy weapons, armor, healing items, and spells. Magirocks can be exchanged for one-use spell items; after a spell is cast, they turn back into Magirocks.
