This action-adventure metroidvania based on Touhou Project follows Aya Shameimaru, a tengu journalist, and Momiji Inubashiri, a tengu patrol member, as they become trapped in a world inside a youma book. Stripped of their powers, the pair explore this unfamiliar place in search of a way out and the secrets it holds.
The player can switch between Aya and Momiji. Aya excels at ranged attacks and aerial movement, while Momiji specializes in close combat and running along walls. Their skills help in battle and open up previously inaccessible parts of the map. Other Gensokyo residents encountered in the book world may ask for help, attack the pair, or assist them in combat; exploration also reveals hidden items and abilities.
