A puzzle game with role-playing elements, set in a Lovecraftian world where the player is an agent of the paramilitary group The Black Watchmen, investigating paranormal activity. Missions extend beyond the game itself, using websites, wikis and other real-world online resources created for its universe to blur the boundary between fiction and reality.
Players crack ancient codes, research occult groups, uncover connections between events and hack through opponents’ virtual defenses. Missions call for different skills, ranging from investigation to joining raids. A dedicated interface brings together briefings, information and puzzles, while a map shows the locations of other agents and can point to missions tied to real-world places.
