Starr Mazer: DSP is a side-scrolling arcade shoot ’em up with role-playing elements and a roguelike take on the lives-and-continues system. A squadron of pilots fights an invading G’ell force across nine levels in three acts, from the surface of a war-torn planet to the enemy’s super ship. The campaign is designed to be completed in a single run.
Before each mission, players assemble a team of pilots with different ships, weapons, and stats, then set their battle order. A fallen pilot does not end the game: SK:ORE collected from defeated enemies and pickups can be spent to recruit replacements. Carbomite can be used to upgrade the primary weapon or fuel the super weapon.
