Phantom is a hard science-fiction survival game in which the player controls a robot rather than a human. Electricity replaces familiar needs such as food and water as the main resource: it is required for staying alive, moving, fighting and building, so limited power must be allocated among different tasks.
Construction is based on functional blocks that interact according to the laws of physics. The player designs structures and tools, and can also build traps, vehicles and other contraptions. The combination of physics-based construction and survival centered on power management shapes the game’s main challenges.
