Kohan: Ahriman's Gift is a real-time strategy game set in the fantasy world of Khaldun, seen from the perspective of evil. A standalone prequel to Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns, it puts the player in command of armies of shadowbeasts and undead, ravaging the countryside and fighting opposing forces. The game adds campaigns, political factions and independent races, along with heroes and units to command.
Battles make use of spells and technologies that shape strategy. In addition to single-player campaigns, the game offers multiplayer matches and several modes. A random map generator and map editors support the creation of maps for battles, scenarios and campaigns.
