This fantasy role-playing game is set in Norrath five centuries before the events of the original EverQuest, during the Age of Adventure. Freeport is still a new coalition of merchants, and the elves have yet to leave their ancient homeland entirely.
Players take on quests, fight monsters and develop their characters. Combat unfolds in real time and calls for tactical choices, with each monster presenting a distinct challenge. Characters grow stronger by finding items and unlocking secret abilities as they explore the world.
