This turn-based global strategy game depicts the First World War, with a campaign spanning the conflict from the invasion of Belgium in 1914 to the Armistice in 1918. Players command forces across a large hex-based map stretching from the USA to the Urals, and from Scandinavia to Africa and Arabia.
Commander: The Great War includes five campaigns, each beginning in a different year of the war and centered on a historical offensive. Historical and what-if events can be triggered by conditions on the campaign map. Forces include infantry, cavalry, tanks, artillery, ships, and aircraft, and multiplayer battles can be played by email.
