A handyman refurbishes an old apartment in Berlin and gradually uncovers its history. Relics found during the renovation bear witness to the lives and adventures of its former inhabitants. He tells his daughter the story behind each discovery; the tales have different protagonists, genres, and atmospheres, but all take place within the same four walls.
