An adventure game with simulation and puzzle mechanics, Tech Support: Error Unknown follows a support specialist drawn into a conflict between an employer and a group of hacktivists while handling customer requests. The protagonist works remotely for the telecommunications company Quasar, resolving users’ problems through a virtual computer.
A range of software can be used to assist customers, track lost phones, scan profiles, or hack the system and exploit information for personal gain. Conversations with customers and colleagues use a procedural dialogue system, while the player’s choices determine whether the protagonist sides with the company, the hacktivists, the police, or pursues a personal agenda. The game features more than 20 major and minor endings.
