A text-based murder mystery unfolds at a costume ball at the Ashcroft estate, where the hostess is killed. The player character is a reporter for The Washington Representative, sent to cover the party by the newspaper’s editor. Veronica Ashcroft-Wellman is found strangled with a lariat from a cowboy costume, and the reporter becomes the prime suspect.
The player investigates the crime and examines the possibility that another guest is responsible. Masks and costumes make it difficult to identify the partygoers, while evidence connects the murder to items associated with the reporter’s outfit. Suspect was the last of Infocom’s three murder mystery games.
