An action game based on the anime series Samurai Champloo follows the characters through a hip-hop-inflected version of Japan, presenting the events of a “lost episode.” Mugen, a reckless samurai with an unorthodox fighting style, Jin, who follows the code of Bushido, and a new character travel to the northern land of Ezo in search of the samurai who smells of sunflowers. Their opponents include foreign mercenaries, master swordsmen, assassins, mythical beasts, and gangster monkeys.
Combat combines music with linked attacks. Players choose combos built around different hip-hop grooves and can switch between them during a fight. Collectible tracks unlock further sets of linked attacks, which can be used tactically in combat.
