An American football simulation built around controlling offense and defense in games that recreate NFL action. Players can send any offensive skill player in motion before a snap to keep the defense guessing, while revised passing, catching, and blocking systems shape play on the field. In NFL GameDay 2003, animations for tackles, catches, and blocks affect the outcome of each play, with additional animations for breaking tackles.
Online mode lets players compete against opponents from across the country, create a friends list, and chat during matches. If a participant leaves a controller unattended, the computer can take over that player’s control.
