Humans is a puzzle-platform game about guiding a prehistoric tribe through levels with different objectives. These may involve finding a tool, dealing with dinosaurs, or bringing at least one person to an exit marked by a red tile.
The player controls one person at a time and can switch between members of the tribe. To overcome obstacles, they can form ladders by stacking on one another and use tools such as spears, torches, wheels, and ropes; later levels introduce a shaman's magic. The tribe's total population and the player's score carry over between levels, each of which has its own objectives, tools, and number of available people.
