A real-time strategy game about developing a medieval settlement and building an empire in Europe in 1050. The player leads a community, explores the surrounding lands, gathers resources and founds cities, gradually expanding through trade, construction, research and conquest.
Goods are produced and traded to meet the needs of citizens and soldiers, while trade routes must be protected from barbarian attacks and foreign powers. Research unlocks medieval technologies, and armies of knights, archers and cavalry can be sent against rival forces. The game includes a campaign, free play and multiplayer battles, alongside natural disasters such as fires, droughts and the Black Death.
