A first-person horror shooter set in the American frontier, where undead forces have overrun the West. Outlaw gunslinger Jericho Cross joins the secret organization Darkwatch after an encounter with a vampire lord. He must hunt the vampire that bit him to save the West and his own soul from damnation.
Across non-linear missions, players fight the undead with enhanced Western weapons, Darkwatch technology and supernatural vampire abilities. Jericho can also use combat vehicles and ride a trusty undead horse. The artificial intelligence of enemies and non-player characters is affected by the player's reputation, while weapon damage varies according to the location of each hit.
