Dam Busters

A historical flight combat simulator about nighttime bomber missions during World War II, loosely based on Operation Chastise and the film of the same name. Each mission calls for the destruction of a dam: the training flight has no obstacles, while the other two expose the crew to enemy aircraft, barrage balloons, flak and searchlights. The missions vary in difficulty and begin either off the French coast or at a British airfield.

The player controls seven crew stations: pilot, front gunner, tail gunner, bomb aimer, navigator, engineer and squadron leader. During the flight, the player must attend to the station in need, evade attacks, deal with threats and handle emergencies such as engine fires. A successful bombing run requires setting the bomber’s speed, height and release timing; the bomb’s path is then shown as it bounces across the water and either hits or misses the dam.
