An arcade puzzle game and a spin-off of Bubble Bobble, Bust-A-Move challenges players to clear a field of colored bubbles. Each round begins with bubbles arranged across the top of a rectangular arena. A pointer at the bottom aims and fires bubbles; matching a shot with a group of at least three bubbles of the same color removes them. Any bubbles supported only by that group fall away as well.
The goal is to clear the arena without letting any bubbles cross its bottom boundary. After several shots, the ceiling drops and pushes the remaining bubbles closer to the line; crossing it ends the game. Clearing the field starts another round with a new bubble arrangement, while the color of each shot is randomly chosen from those still present in the arena.
